This is specialized communications, marketing and public engagement work across all City departments. An incumbent is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and evaluating communications, marketing, and public consultation projects, activities and programs; researching, writing and editing a variety of communications, and public engagement materials; identifying, assessing, anticipating emerging issues and trends; planning and implementing community consultation and engagement on publicly sensitive issues; and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Develops marketing, communications and public engagement plans, strategies and tactics; identifies the need for and enlists the support and participation of appropriate partners, stakeholders and subject matter experts. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include a Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related discipline plus considerable related experience or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Considerable knowledge of communications, marketing and public engagement principles, practices, methods, techniques, and related technology. Considerable knowledge of the City’s requirements, programs and activities and regulations, rules and policies governing the work. Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, execute and evaluate marketing, communications, and public engagement plans. Ability to research, write, and edit a variety of materials related to the work and to communicate effectively orally and in writing through various media to internal and external audiences. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
