This is specialized communications and marketing work in developing and coordinating communications and marketing campaigns for the City of Burnaby. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator gathers, compiles, writes and edits clear, concise copy and information across a wide variety of platforms such as marketing material, speaking notes, media releases, presentations, newsletters, website and social media content, video scripts, editorial content, and other written material to a variety of audiences. This includes content creation for a wide variety of City programs, services and key initiatives. The incumbent also participates in developing internal communications and marketing strategies and plans; provides guidance and advice to internal clients and collaborates with colleagues and clients to implement campaigns; coordinates event logistics and evaluates same; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include degree in communications, marketing or a related discipline plus considerable related experience or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Considerable knowledge of communications and marketing principles, objectives practices, methods and techniques related to the work performed; of the City’s requirements, programs and activities and regulations, rules and policies governing the work. Ability to write and edit a variety of materials and to communicate effectively orally and in writing through various media to a variety of audiences; to work on several projects simultaneously and respond to competing priorities. Ability to use equipment and software used in the work. Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
